The teams for Rising Stars Challenge for All-Star Friday 2014 have been finalised, headlined by Anthony Davis and Damian Lillard.
The player pool for the Rising Stars Challenge was revealed on Jan. 30, but the teams were not set until they were drafted by TNT analysts Chris Webber and Grant Hill on Thursday night.
With the first pick of the draft, Webber chose former no. 1 pick Anthony Davis from the hometown New Orleans Pelicans.
Joining Davis will be rookies Michael Carter-Williams (76ers), Tim Hardaway, Jr. (Knicks), Trey Burke (Jazz), Mason Plumlee (Nets), Steven Adams (Thunder) and Kelly Olynyk (Celtics), with Jared Sullinger (Celtics) the only other second-year player chosen by Webber.
With his first selection, Hill chose reigning Rookie of the Year and first-time All-Star Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers.
Joining Lillard will be fellow second-year players Bradley Beal (Wizards), Andre Drummond (Pistons), Harrison Barnes (Warriors), Jonas Valanciunas (Raptors) and Dion Waiters (Cavaliers), while Terrence Jones (Rockets), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks) and Pero Antic (Hawks) will be representing this year’s rookie class for Team Hill.
Carter-Williams, Burke and Antetokounmpo are also competing in the Skills Challenge.
But it is Lillard who is shouldering the biggest load, becoming the only player in NBA history to compete in five events in the same All-Star weekend.
